Learn the essentials skills, traits, and qualities a top notch trainer should possess as well as important communication tactics when working with individuals in a fitness setting.  This workshop will also include the stages of a personal trainer-client relationship and suggested skills a trainer should possess during each phase of personal training.

Basic training methods and workouts to prepare for the Olympic distance triathlon; (1.5 kilo swim, 40 kilo bike, 10 kilo run)

1205 - Class Components – Suzelle Snowden (Group Fitness Intensive)                Hedo Disco
The participant will learn the basic components of various types of group fitness classes.  They will learn the significance of the warm-up, cool-down and the progression and balance techniques of building a safe and motivating class.

1304 - Resist-A-Ball Bootcamp - Missy Hawthorne     - Hedo Disco
Is it tough? You Bet! This is a non-nonsense workout that will challenge your most fit members but offer modifications so that even the beginners can participate. It's an all ball drill class that puts a new spin on traditional calisthenics and interval classes. Learn fun and functional exercises to toughen your participants with a total body formula that delivers power, core strength, and a lotta sweat!

1306 - Introduction to Aqua – Denise Cox (Aqua Intensive)             Lido Pool
This workshop offers an introduction to water preparing participants for the “new wave” in fitness. We will explore the benefits of water exercise; examine basic terminology used in most classes including safety cues and technique reminders. We will look at the basic format for shallow water and deep water class and the participants will depart with a sample class format.

Grasp the anatomy and general physiology of the body during exercise.  Participants will review the cardio-respiratory, muscular, and skeletal systems and how exercise affects them, as well as discuss types of training and exercise modes for improving physical fitness.

The building block method and add-on style are two of the techniques introduced in this session.  The participant will gain the knowledge to build a class that is simple to follow and is not pre-packaged choreography.

This being one of the largest demographic groups in the fitness industry, the class will cover the special needs of this group beginning with physical implications to nutritional requirements.

Calling all water babes and buoys!  You will learn the basic moves and skills that are the foundation of aquatic exercise.  You will leave the class with a clear understanding of the different working positions available in aquatic exercise as well as basic water moves to design an aquatic fitness class. Are you Hip Hop or more the classics in the way you teach and the music you select?  We will take you on exploration of shallow workouts that are both fun and achievable. The participant will gain the knowledge of different types of music and how it can be used in a variety of class formats.  Music phrasing and proper cueing techniques will be heavily emphasized as a major factor in providing a quality exercise environment for all levels.

2106 - Deep Water Buoyancy Equipment – Denise Cox (Aqua Intensive Series)   Hedo Main Pool
A deep water experience! No drills or sprints instead this session will be filled with ideas and concepts not used in conventional deep water classes. Explore the many movement options and different exercises that can be utilized to give your regular aqua participants a workout that they will remember. Learn how to use Styrofoam hand buoys designed to adapt the popular land-based strength training programs to the water, H2o reps takes traditional resistance training one step further by maximizing the properties of the water for both concentric and eccentric training. H2o reps are a simple and effective way to improve muscular strength, function, shape and definition.

Foundational exercises will be practiced and demonstrated using the proper communication skills discussed in earlier sessions.  Participants will be introduced to a grid of several common strength and flexibility exercises and allowed the opportunity to practice their personal training skills with a partner using proper demonstration, teaching, and spotting skills.  Instructor feedback will be available throughout this interactive session.

In this seminar you will learn how to use the BOSU in many aspects. First getting acclimated and adjusted to the uneven surface of the BOSU. Then, learn exercises and movement patterns that will challenge your balance and cardiovascular system. Experience drills for both group ex and personal training clients.
