11/07 – Monday

Zumba Basic 1 - Kelly Bullard - Conference Rm 1 (Intensive)
This course teaches you the foundation and formula to teach a Zumba® class. You will learn the steps to four basic rhythms (merengue, salsa, cumbia, reggaeton). You ll learn how to put these steps together into a song, and how to create your first Zumba® class. We'll provide you with all the tools and resources you will need to teach a Zumba® class. License: One-year basic Zumba® license. You will have the opportunity to extend your license and join the Zumba® Instructor Network (ZIN) at this training.  Prerequisite: None

**Registration and payment for this Zumba course must be done through the Zumba Website.

Personal Training Foundations - Amy Bomar - Conference Rm 2 (Intensive)
Learn the basic skills an entry level trainer should possess while working within the fitness industry. Topics covered include: the art of personal training, essentials of movement and motion, fitness assessment, current program guidelines for cardiovascular, muscle conditioning and flexibility training, as well as how to design an effective program for the apparently healthy adult. Participants will engage in practical demonstrations and apply theoretical concepts with sample case studies.

Power Plunge - David Mesirow - Pool
Muscular endurance training in the pool with NO equipment can be fun and exciting as well as "tough" when using your own body and the resistance of the water.

From Zones to Zen - Missy Hawthorne - Hedonism Spin Room
Can you imagine working hard only to be rewarded for a job well done? From Zones to Zen combines the intensity of spinning with the relaxation of yoga stretching to create a “best of both worlds” class. Learn how to use four energy “Zones” to create the intensity you need for sprinting hills, mastering switch backs, and enjoying the straight-a-ways. Working with Zones is a great tool in monitoring heart rate and/or perceived exertion. End class with challenging core work only to soothe and stretch with yoga and relaxation.  This workshop truly is “the best of both worlds!”

This session combines the best of zen worlds of yoga and pilates.  Incorporate balance, strength, and flexibility to develop an overall lean and sexy body.  Relaxation at the end of the session rejuvenates you for the rest of the day.

Personal Training Progressions (Intensive) - Amy Bomar - Conference Rm 2 -> Wt. Rm
Take your personal training to the next level and learn new skills to progress your clients and participants within their programming. Topics covered include: foundations of functional fitness, exercise progressions and regressions, and the NEWLY added essentials of group training for personal trainers. Participants will engage in several practical demonstrations as well as help develop, design and co-teach a group training session.
ACE 0.4 CEU
**Part 2 of USFIT Personal Trainer Certificate- participants must complete open-book, written exam, and attend both sessions in order to qualify for certificate.

Fit Bodies, Inc. Teaching Vacation Certificate - Suzelle Snowden and Missy Hawthorne - Conference Rm 2 (Intensive)
Are you a personal trainer, tennis pro or Zumba instructor looking to find more teaching vacation opportunities?   Are you teaching yoga and pilates but are interested in offering different formats to resort guests?  Aqua teachers are you looking to add land classes so you can be a part of the traveling team?

Fit Bodies, Inc. Teaching Vacation Certification will give you the knowledge, working components and practical application to lead a successful group fitness program to resort guests no matter what age, experience level or nationality.  Also included in the programming will be resort protocol, expectations and guidelines.

Prerequisite – To receive a Fit Bodies, Inc. Teaching Vacation certification you must be currently certified or have prior education in a related field of fitness or yoga.
Upon completion of this program you will be certified and activated to travel as a Fit Bodies, Inc.  group fitness professional

Stretched Out Strength - Amy Bomar - Disco
Come to the rescue of tight muscles! This workshop is geared to both personal trainers and fitness instructors who want a progressive strength and stretch workout for all ages and abilities. Learn how to stabilize, connect and strengthen all of the muscles recruited for yoga-based poses and movement patterns. By incorporating several different movement traditions, you’re able to launch new concepts and movements without overwhelming your members. Amy will share with you 10 different exercise sequences that you can take home and introduce to your members right away.

How do you utilize the TRX straps?  We use them in the military for all kinds of functional training by themselves and in addition to functional weight training circuits.  Be ready to get the textbook and practical workout or your life and be ready to sweat as we go through a real-world functional workout utilizing the TRX straps.

Foundations of Cycling Certificate - CarolAnn - Hedonism Spin Room (Intensive)
The FiTOUR® Indoor Cycling Certification course will give you all the tools you need to be a group cycling instructor extraordinaire. The curriculum covers indoor cycling equipment, biomechanics of proper pedaling, warm ups, cool downs and drills for indoor bicycle training. You will also learn injury prevention strategies and how to teach a safe and effective indoor group cycling class.

Aqua Zumba® Certificate - Kelly Bullard - Pool (Intensive)
This Specialty course is the "pool party" workout for all ages. You'll learn how to teach safe, effective and challenging water-based workouts that integrate the Zumba® formula and philosophy into traditional aqua fitness disciplines. License: Aqua Zumba® license as long as you are a ZIN Member in good standing. Prerequisite: Must be a member of the Zumba® Instructor Network (ZIN). AEA (Aquatic Exercise Association) certification recommended.

Discover your inner dancer while you learn to flow together basic, but sexy, fun and sultry moves into a dance-based cardiovascular workout. You’ll sample moves from burlesque, belly-dance, exotic dance and modern dance and find entertaining ways to bring out the dancer in all of your students from beginner to the advanced. Session includes sample ideas for dance-based conditioning, flexibility exercises and easy to learn and teach movements. Come and find your “Lady Gaga” effect and Just Dance!

We are fit but are we tennis fit?  Every level of player is welcome to come out for a cardio workout to keep you on your toes.  Volleys and midcourt smashes will be the specialty of the day.   Ladder drills will be incorporated into your off court movement to take your game to the next level.

Like a great book or movie, truly great yoga classes have a well conceived beginning, middle, and end.  Learn how to give each and every student what they need for any given day. This workshop provides a proven methodology to structure classes based on student's individual ability with a focus on functional alignment with progressive asana levels throughout the class.  Asanas, props, yoga therapy, pranayama, and savasana will be covered as you learn about energetic and spiritual sequencing and flow.

Foundations of Yoga will give you a basic foundation on the basics of yoga in an easy, condensed form. Did you ever wonder how the Olympic weightlifters can make such a difficult lift look so easy...repetition, repetition, repetition.  The snatch is the most technically difficult lift in the world and the clean & jerk is known as "The Mother of all Lifts" for a reason.  It takes about 5000 reps to become proficient and that isn't using PVC as some cross training certifications try to make you think.  This session will explore the theoretical and practical aspects of Olympic weightlifting.

A sampling of the many flavors of Zumba will provide you a taste of a fun dance based fitness program.

Foundations of Thai Massage - Wayne Martin - Conference Rm 1 (Intensive)
Thai techniques: Use of fingers, hands, elbows, arms, feet and knees to apply Thai techniques with client in 1) prone, 2) supine, 3) side, 4) seated.
Thai as a dance of energy between client and practitioner.
Fluid transitions from one position to another as a basic form of Thai massage.
"As You Like": The mantra of the Thai massage practitioner ; becoming the mantra of the Thai massage receiver.

Up your level as a trainer with these new and exciting concepts dealing with practical as well as nutritional components for your clients.  Understand the simplest and most cost effective method for post-workout recovery using a readily available nutritional product that can be purchased almost anywhere.

Aqua Yoga - Denise Cox - Pool
Combines flowing dynamic movements with traditional yoga poses, that when assisted by the water, help lengthen and strengthen muscles, support weak joints, and improve balance and coordination. It is through regular practice of these movements and poses (asanas) that chronic pain, muscle injuries and imbalances may be greatly diminished over time.

Without Weights Fitness Camps - Amy Bomar - Conference Room 2
No equipment needed, really? Learn to develop and design an amazing, full body fitness camp experience using just the natural landscape of your environment and 10 basic body weight movements. Participants will learn the keys of fit camp design as well as unique ways to progress simple movements to challenge any level of participation. Workshop attendees will have the opportunity to experience it all in a wrap-up fitness boot camp workout!
